Bender-Enzeli is located in the province of Gilan, in the north of Iran, in the administrative center of Shakhrestan. The town is the largest Iranian port on the shore of the Caspian Sea. Bender-Enzeli is also a resort divided into two parts by the Enzeli lagoon.
The main attraction of Bender-Enzeli is the lagoon on the coast. The pond is a valuable attraction with its fauna of migratory birds like swans, herons, ducks as well as versatile fauna. Here grow reed thickets, lilies, reeds and beautiful lake lotus. The pond is protected by the government.
One of the oldest buildings of Bender-Anzali is a clock tower. The tower is built of white brick and once served as a beacon for ships. Clocks were installed on all sides of the tower. The tower was built in 1816.
Another attraction of the town is the Miyan – Poschte Palace located on the bank of the Sefidrud River. The palace has an area of 1.2 thousand square meters. It has 11 rooms. Now in the palace operates the Military Museum, which exhibits weapons from different eras, beginning with the Safavid era.
