International Nanotechnology Festival in Iran
The first Nanotechnology Festival in Iran was held in 2008. For several years now, the Initiative Council for Nanotechnology of Iran INIC has been organizing a festival in which local and foreign companies, research institutes and laboratories take part. Every year the number of participating countries and organizations is growing rapidly attracting more attention of world media to Iran.

Festival of roses
The most beautiful festival in Iran is the festival of roses held from April 21 to May 21. This month is called ordibekhesht in Iran, the time of flowers and rains. The Rose Festival is held in Kashan, which is considered the birthplace of roses. The city turns into a small paradise in the center of the country. In the province, the production of roses has been practiced for several centuries.
As part of the festival, a harvest of a damask rose, from which pink water is prepared, is being held. The production of a pink water is a whole ceremony; varieties of roses are prepackaged and collected in special pots and essences. Then, the pink petals are cooked. Rose water is used in the production of national dishes, sweets and perfume.
Festival of pomegranate
In Iran, pomegranate is a symbol of the sun, immortality and beauty, the color symbolizes energy and life itself. The pomegranate was revered as a noble fruit, it was believed to have healing properties and used in medicine.
The festival of pomegranate was celebrated since the era of Zoroastrianism. The festival of fertility is celebrated in late October in the city of Savekh, near Tehran. The city is called “Ruby City” due to the huge pomegranate gardens. The festival lasts five days, and all the five days the participants have real fun: there are organized dances, games and concert. The pomegranate, as well as dishes from pomegranate are exhibited as treats.
Another festival, which was celebrated in the era of Zoroastrianism, is the Yalda Festival. It is celebrated at the end of December, on the longest night of the year. Yalda is the night of the struggle between good and evil. The dawn symbolizes the victory of good, and the light itself is the Zoroastrian god Ahur Mazda. During the holiday, the family gathers at the festive table. An integral part of the festive treat is watermelon: a slice of watermelon will protect against all diseases.
Festival of hazelnut
At the end of August, Festival of hazelnut is held in Iran. Every year the festival takes place in the province of Qazvin, in the gardens of Shahrestan, in honor of harvesting. The traditional dances and songs, games are organized during the festival.
Festival of toys
For the second year in Iran, a toy festival has been organized by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children. The festival is held in Tehran: during the festival a conference and presentation of new ideas are organized while the most interesting part of the festival is an exhibition of toys.
Festival of carpets
Persian handmade carpets are known all over the world. The presence of such a carpet is a sign of wealth, therefore carpets will remain in demand. In order to attract international attention to Iran and develop tourism, the festival of carpets is organized with great scope.
The festival of carpets takes place on the island of Kish, in the Persian Gulf. The best Iranian carpet weavers represent handmade carpets. The exhibition of carpets offers not only to get acquainted with the art, but also to purchase carpets.
One of the modern festivals that has been held for several years in Iran is the Tehran International Fajr Festival. The festival date is changing, but mostly it is held in the spring. Cinematographers from all over the world gather to participate in the film festival in Tehran. More than hundreds of Iranian and international films are presented during the festival. The winners of the nominations receive the “Crystal Simurg” prize (the simurg is the character of ancient fairy tales).
