Tour to Armenia and Iran – 12 days

Day 1

  • Arrival at the airport in Armenia, transfer to the hotel

 

Overnight: hotel in Yerevan

Day 2

  • The day will start with a trip to Geghard Cave Monastery – the example of unique rock architecture. It is another UNESCO object of the country.
  • City tour around Yerevan during which you will get acquainted with the most famous city attractions
  • Tour to Matenadaran Museum – the repository of ancient manuscripts
  • Visit to Genocide Memorial
  • Visit to the traditional food market. The bright colors of fruits and vegetables and the flavors of local products will not leave anyone indifferent.

Day 3

  • This day you will visit the religious center of all Armenians, Etchmiadzin town. Here was founded the first Christian church in the world, Echmiadzin Cathedral.
  • Next stop will be at the ruins of Zvartnots Temple. Zvartnots is of great value not only for Armenians but also for international society, as it is inscribed in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  • The tour will continue to Lake Sevan – an amazing azure lake, one of the highest mountain lakes in the world.

Day 4

  • Trip to the south of Armenia to Goris town
  • Visit to Noravank Monastery located in the beautiful valley of red rocks
  • Stop in Areni village for wine degustation
  • Visit to Tatev Monastery – “the pearl of Armenian medieval architecture.” The monastery located above the gorge can be reached by the longest cable car in the world
  • Arrival in Goris

Day 5 – Drive to Iran

  • Transfer to Armenian-Iranian border. After arrival at Nordouz (Armenia and Iran border) and passing the customs, you will drive to Tabriz. The way will take several hours. On the way to Tabriz, we will stop to visit St.Stephanus church.  Then there will be a transfer to the hotel for an overnight.

Day 6

  • Walk through the beautiful El Gölü historic park
  • Visit to the Blue Mosque and the Amir al-Mulka House Museum
  • Visit to Grand Bazar – a World Heritage Site worth exploring as the largest roofed bazaar in the world that used to be on the Silk Route playing an important role as a commercial and economic center.
  • Flight to Tehran

Day 7

  • City tour around Tehran
  • Visit to Golestan Palace – one of the most ancient architectural sights in Iran. It consists of royal buildings and gardens.
  • Visit to the Museum of National Jewels where you will explore amazing collections of Safavid and other royal dynasties: crowns, diadems, swords and other precious gems.
  • Visit to Milad and Azadi towers
  • Sightseeing tour and walk in the Ab-Va-Atash park
  • Flight to Shiraz town

Day 8 

  • Visit to Nasir-ol-Molk Mosque also known as a Pink Mosque. It amazes with its colored facade made of glass and other traditional elements
  • The tour will continue to Narenjestan Palace located in a picturesque garden. The garden is registered in the list of national monuments of Iran. The garden got its name due to the huge number of orange trees
  • Visit the grave of the Iranian poet Hafez. Hafez Shirazi is one of the greatest lyricists in the world literature.
  • The tour continues to the tombs of poets Saadi. Sa’adi is a poet, philosopher, and mystic known as the father of tourism. He traveled to different countries and cities and then collected all his experiences in verse and rhyme-prose.
  • Stroll around Eram Garden – one of the most famous and beautiful Persian gardens in all of Iran.
  • The last stop will be at Karim Khan Castle which resembles a medieval fortress. At times the citadel was used as a prison. Today it is a museum managed by the Organization of Cultural Heritage of Iran.

Day 9 

  • Trip to Persepolis – the ancient Persian city founded in the VI-V century BC. e., the capital of the vast empire of the Achaemenids. To date, this city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
  • Visit to Nakroshe-Rostam necropolis located not far from Persepolis. This place is famous for the rock tombs of the kings of the Achaemenid dynasty and stone bas-reliefs, the most ancient of which date back to 1000 BC.
  • On the way stop at Pasargadae – the ancient Persian city, the first capital of the Achaemenid Empire.
  • Trip to Isfahan – the third largest city in Iran

Day 10 

  • Visit to the famous Isfahan bridges, among which the most impressive is the Sio Seol bridge, thrown across the Zaanda River
  • The tour will start with a visit to Imam square (Naqsh-e-Jahan belonging to the XVI-th century). It is the second largest square in the world included in the UNESCO world heritage list.
  • The next stop will be at the grand forty-eight meters high Ali Qapu Palace built in the XVII-the cent. by Shah Abbas I.
  • Visit to one of the most famous bazaars in Iran, where you can purchase the arts & crafts for which Isfahan is so well renowned

Day 11

  • The second day of sightseeing tour around Isfahan
  • The excursion will begin with a visit to the Jami mosque – the UNESCO object in Iran
  • Visit to the Minare Jonban – the tomb of a Sufi with its shaking minarets and some historical bridges.
  • The tour continues to Chehel Sotoun – an outstanding architectural masterpiece of the XVII-the cent. Once it was used by Iranian shahs for entertainment and receptions of dignitaries and ambassador.
  • Visit to the Armenian Church Vank which is one of the most beautiful Armenian churches in the world, which will undoubtedly attract the attention of every Christian
  • Stroll around Armenian quarter of Julfa
  • The last excursion will be at Hasht Behesht Palace
