Zanjan
Zanjan is located in the north-west of the country, in the administrative center of Zanjan. Since ancient times the city is famous for carpets and masters of carpet weaving. Keeping the tradition of carpet weaving, and at the same time inserting new technologies Zanjan carpets have become popular far beyond Iran.
The city has several attractions that are worth to visit. First of all, it is the mausoleum of Il-Khan located 40 km from the city. The dome is built of bricks and is considered one of the highest in the world. The mausoleum is unique due to wall paintings and a decorative plate. The dome of the mausoleum is often compared with the dome of the Church of Santa Maria in Venice and the dome of the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Istanbul. It is also worth visiting the Friday Mosque Imam Zade in Zedjan.
Modern Zanjan is not only historical sights but also large and small companies for the production of carpets and leather goods.
